Write a Guide
HowDadDo guides are written by real people who've done the thing they're explaining. If you have knowledge worth sharing, we want to hear from you — no writing degree required.
How to write a guide in 4 steps
Pick a topic you know well
The best guides come from lived experience. Think about a skill, repair, recipe, or life hack you've figured out that others struggle with.
Break it into clear steps
Write each action as a numbered step. Start with a strong verb ("Remove the panel", "Mix until smooth"). Aim for 5–15 steps per guide.
Add tips, warnings & context
Great guides include the "why" behind each step, common mistakes to avoid, and helpful variations for different situations.
Submit for editorial review
Our team reviews every submission for accuracy, clarity, and safety before it goes live. We may reach out with feedback or questions.
Great guides have…
- A descriptive "How to…" title
- Numbered steps starting with action verbs
- At least one tip or warning per major step
- An intro that explains who the guide is for
- Photos or illustrations (optional but loved)
Things we don't accept
- Promotional or sponsored content
- Medical claims without expert backing
- Copy-pasted content from other sources
- Incomplete drafts with fewer than 3 steps
- Content that could cause harm if followed
